Wednesday, September 28, 2016
The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America will hold its Seventh Annual Meeting from October 4-6, 2016 in Detroit, MI. This year’s meeting will begin with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of Saint Mary in Livonia, MI on Tuesday, October 4th.
The Hierarchs will focus their work on the central mandates of the Assembly, namely, the need to identify ways to resolve canonical, administrative, and organizational concerns, and the need to enhance a common and united witness of the Orthodox Church in the United States of America.
Moreover, the Assembly of Bishops has invited representatives of its Agencies to discuss ways in which they may together advance their transformational service to the Church and to society. The Assembly Meeting will also feature an informational forum on religious liberty and a discussion about the status of the Assembly of Bishops following the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church, which convened in Crete in June 2016.
The public agenda is available online for viewing.
The hierarchs of the Assembly request the prayers of all clergy, monastics, and laity for a spiritually fruitful meeting.
