Google OAuth & Google Calendar Data

Google User Data We Access

Our application uses Google OAuth to authenticate users and verify ownership of Google Calendars added to our platform. When a user connects their Google account, we may access the following Google user data, based on the permissions granted by the user:

  • Google account email address

  • Basic profile information (such as name and profile photo)

  • A list of Google Calendars owned or managed by the user

  • Event data from selected Google Calendars (including event title, date/time, and description)

How We Use Google User Data

We use Google user data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate users and confirm ownership or management rights of Google Calendars

  • To allow users to select which of their Google Calendars they wish to connect to our application

  • To import and display events from user-selected Google Calendars

  • To display calendar events publicly only when the user explicitly chooses to make a calendar public within our application

  • To associate selected calendars with additional metadata provided by the user (such as descriptions or categorization)

Only calendars explicitly selected by the user are processed or displayed within the application.

Public Display of Calendar Data

If a user chooses to make a calendar public, events from that calendar may be visible to other users of the application or the general public, depending on the app’s functionality. This public display occurs only after explicit user action and confirmation.

Users may remove calendars or revoke access at any time, which will stop future syncing and public display.

Data Storage and Retention

Google user data is stored securely using industry-standard security practices. Calendar event data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the service or until the user removes the calendar or revokes access.

We do not retain Google Calendar data beyond what is required to operate the application.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share Google user data with third parties. Google user data is used solely to provide the core functionality of the application.

Data Deletion and Access Revocation

Users may revoke Google OAuth access at any time via their Google Account settings. Upon revocation, our application will no longer access Google user data.

Users may also request deletion of their account and associated Google user data by contacting us at communications@assemblyofbishops.org. Data will be deleted unless retention is required by law.

Limited Use Compliance

Our use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
