Sunday of Orthodoxy: Assembly of Bishops Sunday

Throughout the past century in the United States of America, clergy and faithful from around the country gather together to celebrate the Unity of the Orthodox Church through various activities culminating in a vespers service for the Sunday of Orthodoxy.  Therefore, in June 2024, the Assembly of Bishops' Executive Committee - finding it most appropriate - acknowledged this reality and decided that the Assembly of Bishops, the ecclesial body representing Orthodox Christian Unity in the USA, will be recognized and celebrated each year in conjunction with the Sunday of Orthodoxy. As part of the Assembly of Bishops' commitment to supporting local Orthodox Christian initiatives, the Assembly's Committee for Liturgy produced an official Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers, which was approved by the Assembly during their 2024 meeting. Additionally, the Assembly's Executive Committee will publish an annual encyclical. Assembly of Bishops Sunday is an opportunity to continue the amazing ongoing celebrations throughout the country, learn about the Assembly's work and programs aimed at bringing Orthodox Christian parishes and faithful together, and remember that, as an Orthodox Christian Church, we are better together!
