Schedule of Programs for March 2007 – THEME: Prayer

03/03/07         Topic:           The Eucharist: Bread of Life, Body and Blood of Christ
                  Guest:          Fr. Stanley S. Harakas

This week, Come Receive The Light will be looking at the very heart of our life as Orthodox Christians – our communion with Jesus Christ through the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Our featured guest will be Fr. Stanley Harakas, one of the great teachers in Orthodoxy today. As part of our ongoing series presenting his thoughts on the Sacraments of the Church, he will be discussing this most sublime Mystery of our Holy Church, the Mystery of Mysteries, the Sacrament of Sacraments. In the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, through the bread and wine, we partake of the very Body and the very Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for remission of sins and eternal life. Both the New Testament and Sacred Tradition bear witness to the real Presence of our Lord in the Holy Eucharist.

03/10/07       Topic:          Will The 21st Be The Orthodox Century?
                    Guest:         Dr. Bradley Nassif

This week, Come Receive The Light looks at the question: “Will the twenty-first be the Orthodox century?” We will be interviewing renowned Orthodox Christian theologian and teacher Dr. Bradley Nassif, author of a recent article in Christianity Today magazine, on the awakening interest in Orthodoxy and the Great Tradition amongst Evangelical Christians that is making waves throughout Christian media.

03/17/07         Topic:           Lifelong Loving Marriages
Guests:         Fr. Jim and Presvytera Donna Pappas

This week, Come Receive The Light will shine a spotlight on that most challenging of sacraments – the sacrament of marriage. Our guests will be Fr. Jim and Presvytera Donna Pappas, the executive clergy couple for Orthodox Marriage Encounter. We will examine practical ways that Orthodox Christian couples today can create, build and sustain marriages that last a lifetime.

03/24/07         Topic:          Three Tools for Spiritual Growth
                  Guest:          Dr. Despina Prassas

This week, Come Receive The Light will be looking at three spiritual tools essential to our walk with Jesus Christ during the season of Great Lent, and throughout the year: fasting, prayer and almsgiving. Our guest will be Dr. Despina Prassas.

03/31/07       Topic:          Life in God’s Terms
                    Guest:         Dr. Albert Rossi

This week, Come Receive The Light will speak with Dr. Albert Rossi, Professor of Pastoral Theology at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, about the question, “How do we do the work of God?” His answer is that our calling in life is to know and believe in Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Scriptures and interpreted by the Orthodox Church. The Word of God is a treasure, and we are called to be treasure hunters.
