OCMC’s Missionary, Fr. Luke Veronis and Board Member Fr. Peter Gillquist to speak at the Mission & Evangelism Conference

August 3, 2006

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center, St. Augustine, FL – Join the Missions and Evangelism conference as it “Goes to the Rockies”.

For the first time the annual Orthodox Conference on Missions and Evangelism is going to the Rocky Mountains, specifically the Glen Eyrie Conference Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The event will run from September 1-4 (Labor Day Weekend).  This year’s Conference will focus on “What Can We Do BETTER to Bring America to Orthodoxy?” and boasts a roster of five principle speakers.

Heading the lineup will be His Eminence Metropolitan ISAIAH of Denver, whose featured topic will be “Evangelism and the Second Coming of Christ”.  Joining him will be Fr. Patrick Reardon, senior editor of Touchstone Magazine and one of America’s most persuasive and highly regarded Orthodox evangelistic authors. Fr. Moses Berry, president of the Brotherhood of St. Moses the Black will address the cultural and ethnic universality of Orthodox Christianity.

The Mission Center is proud to announce that our very own, Fr. Luke Veronis, who brings two decades of foreign missionary experience to domestic outreach will be speaking about “The Importance of Foreign Missions to Domestic Church Growth”. Fr. Luke was an OCMC Missionary for ten years in Albania. Also speaking at the conference will be OCMC Board Member, Fr. Peter Gillquist, noted Orthodox evangelist, author, and director of the Antiochian Archdiocese Department of Missions and Evangelism.

The Orthodox Conference on Missions and Evangelism is a wonderful opportunity for clergy, laity, or inquirers to learn more about the Orthodox Christian Faith, how to share it and help our parishes grow, and how to start new missions.  Each year participants rave about the Conference being both educational and spiritually renewing, and go home much better equipped to conduct outreach in their communities.

Conference registration begins at $395 for early registration (before August 10), which includes three nights lodging (double room occupancy), all meals, a banquet, and study materials.  The Orthodox Conference on Missions and Evangelism is a cross-jurisdictional event hosted by the Department of Missions and Evangelism and sponsored by the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC).  For further information or to register, contact the Department of Missions and Evangelism toll-free at (888) 968-4014, <mailto:missions@antiochian.org>,or go to: http://www.antiochian.org/missions/conference

Mission Team members and past Missionaries are encouraged to attend and share their evangelism experiences.
