Ft.Lauderdale(April 4) – Orthodox Christian Network is joining in on the growing phenomenon of “podcasting”.
Almost 22 million Americans own MP3 players like the Apple IPod and over 6 million of them have downloaded and listened to programs using their players. (April 2005, Pew Internet & American Life Project)That is why a growing number of media producers are making their radio programs available for these MP3 players on their web sites. Just like the VCR and TiVo have changed the viewing habits of TV watchers, so the ability to have your favorite radio program available to you whenever you want will change the way people listen to radio.
OCN now makes the premier Orthodox Christian radio program, Come Receive The Light, available for download to an MP3 player. This means that a listener can now download the weekly Orthodox Christian radio program and then share that program with others. Rev. Dr. Christopher Metropulos, founder and executive director of OCN, states “One of our primary goals is to share joy, hope, and salvation in Jesus Christ with our young people, especially college students leaving home for the first time. We want them to stay connected to the Church and one of the best ways to do this is to use the technology they are already using to keep them focused on Christ while they are away from home.”
82 million Americans have used the internet for spiritual and religious purposes, and the use of “podcasting” is a natural extension to syndicate media programming to this growing audience of religious seekers.
Listeners can go to the Come Receive The Light web site at www.receive.org and click on the Podcast and RSS feed sections of the menu. From there you will have all the information you need to download the weekly program, the weekly newsletter, and a daily Orthodox devotional from Dynamis to your handheld device or your computer. You will need a special computer program to read this download, but there are a few suggested places to get this program on the web site.
OCN is committed to making the voice of Orthodox Christianity heard in America. It is a religious perspective that will enrich and enhance the culture and faith of this nation.
Come Receive TheLightis the flagship radio program of Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) and is dedicated to spreading joy, hope and salvation in Jesus Christ while exploring Orthodox Christianity in contemporary society.
